About this race:
Shine is the national charity supporting people affected by spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
Spina bifida literally means 'split spine' in Latin. It occurs very early in pregnancy and is one of the most severe conditions compatible with life. Hydrocephalus, otherwise known as 'water on the brain' commonly occurs alongside spina bifida, although can occur at any time, and, if left untreated, can be fatal.
This year two babies a day will be diagnosed with spina bifida and 1 in 1000 children will be affected by hydrocephalus.
Thank you for your support and enjoy the race!
